The cost of Eck-Lectric Solar's Energy Management solutions varies depending on the size of your installation. We offer a patent pending solution designed to maximize energy savings and minimize costs. The return on investment is attractive. It is worth it to go beyond offsetting your own energy and adding more panels to become a provider.
Both have a COP. However, they are quite different. Each is explained below.
PV panels are tested at 25C/77F. PV panels typically lose 10% of their output if they warm by 25C/45F. 17% drops to 15.3%. The opposite is true for cooling the panel. That 17% goes to 18.7% and is locked in at that higher % all the time it is lit. That is how an Eck-Lectric Panel can deliver 2 times the electricity depending on your location.
Heat Pumps can heat or cool by reversing. Typically, two COPs are given, one for heating and one for cooling. Eck-Lectric heats and cools at the same time without reversing. The COP is the beneficial energy delivered divided by the electricity consumed by the heat pump compressor. When heating, the COP = (heat energy) / (compressor energy) and, when cooling, = (heat removed) / (compressor energy). It is often greater than one and is why heat pumps are so wonderful.
Eck-Lectric Solar uses standard heat pump technology. The COP (See above.) of an Eck-Lectric Heat Pump has beneficial uses on both the hot and cold sides. This advances the heat pump use beyond the typical use case. Heat pumps usually shuffle heat to the house for heating and out of the house for air conditioning. Divide either one or the other by the associated compressor energy and one obtains the heating COP or the cooling COP, respectively. An Eck-Lectric COP is for both beneficial uses, heating and cooling, simultaneously. The simple rule for calculating a COP is (beneficial use energy) / (compressor load energy). The compressor creates more electricity by cooling and that portion for a given installation that exceeds a bare (uncooled) PV panel is beneficial energy for which the compressor deserves credit*. The other beneficial energy is the hot water. Therefore, one can see that the Eck-Lectric Heat Pump COP = (Extra PV Electricity + Hot Water) / (Compressor Work Electricity). Since the system is also most efficient for both the PV and the thermal being they are both ice-cold, the PV electricity increases to a level that is potentially double the energy from bare PV.
-- More efficient PV -- More efficient Solar Thermal -- Heat pumping COP, not vigorous pumping --
